Gear Sightings – 2012 Hall of Fame Legends Game

Posted in Gear Sightings with tags , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , on November 18, 2012 by prostocknation

I attended the Legends game at the Air Canada Centre in Toronto last weekend.  Not only was this a chance to see former star players on the ice again, but also an opportunity to see what kind of gear they would be wearing.

Here were some highlights:

Pavel Bure:
The game was split into two 30 minute halves.  During the first half he was wearing a cheapo Bauer 1500 helmet but took it off for the second half.  He is still wearing his signature Bauer Vapor 10 skates which were one of the most popular boots of it’s time.  Continuing with the Bauer theme, he was using a Vapor X:60 stick.  His gloves are made by a Russian company called “Flame”, they are a copy of the Warrior Franchise design.

Joe Sakic:
Other than his skates, his other equipment were not from his playing days.  Burnaby Joe was seen sporting an E700 helmet (no visor), E-Pro gloves (albeit they had his name on the cuff but they weren’t his typical Z-Airs) and a Mako stick.

Mats Sundin:
Sundin was in the same CCM Vector skates and HT2 helmet from his playing days.  Not from his playing days were the Salming gloves and an Easton Stealth RS stick.

Trevor Kidd:
Trevor Kidd was always known for his Brian’s pads with the most elaborate designs.  This set from his time with the Hanover Scorpions of the DEL were no different.

Doug Gilmour:
Killer was in Warrior Franchises and Hustlers paired with a Reebok 11K stick for this game.  A change from the Winnwell gear he was supplied in last years Legends game.

Adam Foote:
The award with the player wearing the most gear from his playing days would have to go to Adam Foote.  He was still wearing his Avalanche issued CCM HT2 Helmet, Easton E-Pro gloves and pants.  The only item not of his era was the RS stick.

Calgary Flames 2012 Equipment Sale

Posted in Equipment Sales with tags , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , , on May 17, 2012 by prostocknation

The Calgary Flames’ 2012 Used Equipment Sale is upcoming!

Details:

  • Saturday, May 26, 2012
  • 8am-1pm
  • FanAttic Store at the Saddledome (555 Saddledome Rise SE, Calgary, AB, T2G 2W1, Canada)

This is about half their sticks available.  I can see various U+, ONE95, 11K, Widows, Dolomites and Total ONEs.

Pro Stock practice jerseys in a variety of colors and sizes.  You definitely won’t find these in retail stores.  Keep in mind these run from sizes 54-60.

On top of the usual home/away black pants and gloves they also have gear from their Alternate sets.  I’m more of a fan of these colors.  I wish the Flames would use these full time.

Of course it wouldn’t be an equipment sale without goalie gear.  Here’s your chance to own Kipper or Karlsson’s combo.

But ultimately the item that interests me the most at this sale is Henrik Karlsson’s mask.  At $2500 it is an absolute bargain for a NHL used mask.  Goalies tend to hang onto their masks so when they’re made available for sale they command big dollars from collectors.

Unless your name is Jarome Iginla or Brad Richards, Easton won’t even make these Z-Air gloves for you.  Luckily you have the chance to own a pair at this sale.

Lastly, Cammy’s pants and helmet he brought over from the Habs are for sale as well.

Any equipment remaining at the end of this sale will be made available through FanAttic’s mail order line.  Be sure to share your pick ups with us!

Please contact them directly with any questions you may have regarding this sale.

Warrior Luxe Gloves

Posted in Gear Sightings with tags , , , , , , , on February 11, 2011 by prostocknation

We’re still waiting for Warrior’s 2011 line to come out but this is probably going to be the most anticipated protective line of the year with Zote foams incorporated into all of their top end offerings.

Players like Kostitsyn, Kovalev and Spezza are among a few players already spotted sporting a pair of these this season and we can’t wait to get our hands on a pair.

Also check out Matt Gilroy’s gloves with the extra padding on the back rolls.  All of the Rangers are on board with this new alteration to combat the bad string of hand injuries sustained earlier in the season.
