New Uniforms For Next Season?

Icethetics.info reported back in January that 10 teams have confirmed they will make uniform change next year but could it be that all teams next year will be sporting something new?

Well, not completely new designs but we have reason to believe that the on-ice jerseys next year will feature the “Reebok” word mark opposed to the current Reebok Vector logo.  Reebok has already started doing this a few years back when they first introduced equipment and quickly moved from the “RBK” and Vector logo to the common day “Reebok” word marks.

Many retailers (both online and in traditional stores) are marking down the retail Edge 1.0 7187 jerseys to prices as low as $149.99!  These jerseys are only available in limited size runs so that’s a good indication these are being blown out at clearance prices and not just a seasonal sale where they will restock later on.

Also being speculated right now are Edge 2.0 7287 jerseys being available to the public as soon as next season.  The majority of professional players have already made the switch to these jerseys made of air knit (with a few panels of x-trafil) and so far only the minor leagues like the AHL have been able to sell 2.0 to the public.

What will be new for next year?  Will we see the x-trafil fabric scrapped altogether for the on-ice product?  Will this be the triumphant return of a full air-knit jersey?

Tampa Bay Lightning – New Logo & Jerseys

Posted in Gear Sightings with tags , , , , , on February 1, 2011 by prostocknation

The Tampa Bay Lightning finally revealed their new logo and jerseys today after the original press conference date was postponed due to a tragic incident in the St. Petersburg area last week.  This will also mark the first time where a NHL team has introduced a new logo and jersey mid-way into the season.  The Lightning will still continue to wear their existing uniforms for the remainder of the year as well as debuting these brand new jerseys on February 4, 2011 against the Washington Capitals.

Gone are all traces of black and the iconic Lightning bolts on both sides of the pants.  These new uniforms have a very Detroit Red Wings feel to them (but blue/white instead of red/white of course) with a solid one color jersey and a stripe on each arm, one beneath the front crest, both sides of the pants and socks.  Can we say Steve Yzerman-inspired?

The gloves have also gone to a generic royal blue with white branding, very Vancouver Canucks-esque compared to the white/blue/black/grey color scheme before.  We’re not a huge fan of the front logo as it looks like something you can screen print yourself at your favorite local t-shirt store for a couple bucks and we still prefer the original Lightning as well as the updated Lightning bolt logo introduced a few years back.  But hey, at least they decided to scrap the ultra lame front numbers this time around.
